Italy's commitment to Iraq's stability and the battle against terrorism were at the centre of talks in Rome on Friday between premier Mario Draghi and his Iraqi counterpart Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Draghi's office said in a statement.
"The fruitful discussion focused on strengthening the historic bilateral partnership and on the main regional challenges," the statement said.
"Italy's commitment and the common determination to ensure the stabilisation and socio-economic development of Iraq and the Middle East were reaffirmed, starting with the fight against international terrorism and crisis resolution processes," the statement concluded.
