Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio has asked Romania's government for "immediate clarification" after a reporter and her crew working for state broadcaster Rai were attacked and arrested while interviewing an anti-vax Sentator.
The request was made to Romania's ambassador to Italy, who expressed "surprise and displeasure" at Monday's detention of Lucia Goracci and her crew after they were allegedly punched by an anti-vax Senator's husband during in interview in the politician's office, foreign ministry sources said.
Goracci and her crew say police made them sign a statement that they were in possession of drugs and weapons and were only freed from custody eight hours later after negotiations involving Italy's embassy in Romania.
