Italy wants to be at the forefront of the ecological and digital transition, which is key to boosting employment and economic development, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Monday.
"Today we talked about the green transition with US president (Joe) Biden's special envoy for climate, John Kerry," Di Maio wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, Di Maio took part in European Union Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels which Kerry joined by videolink.
"We must aid the twin digital and green transitions. This is the main route to creating new jobs and opportunities for development," Di Maio said.
Italy "is ready to spearhead this process in a far-sighted and concrete way," Di Maio underlined.
