An Italian plane with 12 tonnes of essential supplies landed in Juba on Monday as South Sudan faces a humanitarian crisis and growing hunger, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The airlift was organised in collaboration with the Red Cross and Red Crescent and included 'basic items' and food donated by Italy's overseas aid agency and Italian civil society organisations, said the statement.
"The shipment will strengthen humanitarian assistance to support local populations displaced by last year's floods and the health and food emergency in the country," the statement ended.
