Italy has arranged for 100 tents to be sent to Croatia after a devastating earthquake flattened half of the central city of Petrinja, leaving remaining buildings unsafe for habitation and thousands homeless.
"Italy's Civil Protection help is on the way as a shipment of 100 shelter tents is coming in to support people in need in Petrinja and in the rest of the country hit by the earthquake," tweeted the embassy in Zagreb.
"Italy is ready to provide help and assistance to our Croatian friends," the tweet added.
A 12-year-old girl was among at least seven people reported to have been killed in the magnitude 6.4 temblor, which injured dozens in Petrinja, located 46 kilometres southeast of Zagreb.
