Italy and Spain are linked by an "ancient friendship" and a "deep bond," foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated on Tuesday during a state visit.
"Today in Madrid with President Mattarella, we met the King of Spain, Felipe VI. We underlined the deep bond between our two nations. Besides an ancient friendship, we are in great harmony in our actions on the European stage, Di Maio wrote on Facebook.
Italy and Spain are working together "side by side" on many international issues, Di Maio went on.
"Our cultural, social and business interactions are alive," he wrote.
