Cuba will benefit from twelve million euros of development aid over a three-year period under an accord being signed in Havana on Monday by Italy's deputy foreign minister Marina Sereni.

Sereni was also set to tour several local cooperation projects in Havana on Monday and to chair the 6th Political Dialogue session with Cuba's vice-premier Gerardo Penalver Portal, said a foreign ministry statement.

During her three-day visit to Cuba, Sereni will have a working lunch with representatives of Italian businesses based there and hold talks with officials including economy minister Alejandro Gil Fernandez and deputy justice minister Rosabel Gamon Verde, the statement said.

Sereni will travel to Costa Rica's capital San Jose Wednesday, where she will have a working lunch on Thursday with deputy multilateral affairs minister Christian Guillermet-Fernandez and hold meetings with other officials.

Sereni will wrap up her visit to the Caribbean region on Friday with the 1st Political Dialogue session, which she will chair with Costa Rica's deputy foreign minister Adriana Bolanos Argueta, according to the statement.
