The Italian government is to expel 30 Russian diplomats on national security grounds over Russia's "unjustified aggression" in Ukraine - which it invaded on 24 February - foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Tuesday.
The decision to expel the diplomats was made "together with other European and Atlantic partners, for reasons of national security and given the current crisis that followed the unjustified aggression towards Ukraine by Russia," Di Maio stated.
"Our peace mission continues and our objective is to reach a peace agreement to stop the war in Ukraine...which we must do through every means we have, staring with local ceasefires," Di Maio added.
