The Conference of Rectors of African Universities will be held in the central Italian city of Teramo on 21 June, allowing African academics to discuss the protection of cultural and natural heritage as a way of achieving sustainable development, the Italian foreign ministry said on Thursday in a statement.
Italy's deputy foreign minister Emanuela Del Re will open an event in Rome on Monday to present the upcoming conference, the statement said.
Talks will follow by Lorenzo Leuzzi, Bishop of the Diocese of Teramo, Webber Ndoro, General Director of International Center for the Study of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM), Salha Haladou, Senior Technical Advisor, Dino Mastrocola, Rector of the University of Teramo and Giorgio Marrapodi, director of development cooperation at the foreign ministry, according to the statement.
Monday's event will be moderated by Maria Chiara Malaguti of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome.
