Italy will help the UK ensure the success of the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow this year and backs the European Union's blueprint to recover biodiversity by 2030, premier Giuseppe Conte tweeted on Monday.
"2021 is a crucial year for the Earth. Our Planet is one of the pillars of Italy’s G20 Presidency," read the tweet.
"We will work with UK for a successful COP26 and we support the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. Let’s step up our efforts, especially for the younger generations."
Italy will host several key preparatory events for COP26 including a Youth Event and the Pre-COP Summit, which will be held in Milan from 30 September – 2 October.
COP26 is taking place in Glasgow from 1-12 December. The two-week summit seeks to spur renewed international commitment to the key Paris 2015 accord aimed at stabilising the Earth’s climate and limiting global warming.
