The embassy's return to Kyiv shows Italy's commitment to Ukraine, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio told his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba during phone talks on Thursday, the foreign ministry tweeted
"The imminent return of our embassy to Kyiv bears witness to Italy's support for Ukraine's government and its people," the foreign ministry tweeted.
"We'll keep up our commitment to implementing the sanctions against Russia and our support for diplomatic efforts," the tweet added.
The tweet came as Di Maio said on Thursday that Italy's embassy in Ukraine would re-open in Kyiv "after Easter" and its ambassador, Pier Francesco Zazo, would return there from the western city of Lviv.
Italy transferred its embassy to Lviv in early March after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February.
