Italy will give Ukraine all-out support as it continues to battle Russia's nine-month-old invasion, foreign minister Antonio Tajani told NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg on Friday.
"Italy will forcefully back Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, full independence and resilience," Tajani told Stoltenberg by phone.
"We'll keep up our political, military, financial and humanitarian support for Kiev," Tajani said.
Italy wants NATO and the EU to bolster their strategic partnership to more effectively tackle security threats to the Euro-Atlantic area "from all strategic directions, including from the southern flank," Tajani stated.
Tajani and Jensen's phone talks took place ahead of a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Bucharest, Romania on 29-30 November.
Ukraine, Bosnia, Georgia and Moldova's foreign ministers are attending the Bucharest meeting, which comes 15 years after NATO promised that Ukraine and Georgia would one day become members - a pledge that enraged Russia.
