Italy will always be a strategic ally of the United States, foreign secretary Luigi Di Maio told his new US counterpart Antony Binken on Thursday.
"I've just spoken to the new US secretary of state Antony Blinken and confirmed to him that Italy will always be a US strategic ally," Di Maio tweeted after phone talks with Blinken.
"The chief global challenges are at centre of Italy's G20 presidency and we will tackle these challenges together, starting with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic," the tweet added.
