"Italy will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Syrian people and to give humanitarian assistance to the whole country as we await a political solution to the conflict," said Di Maio.
"We believe it is essential to take forward responsible dialogue with the Turkish government through our diplomats that is aimed at achieving a de-escalation," he said.
The Turkish military and its Syrian proxies launched an offensive against Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria on 9 with the aim of creating a buffer zone roughly 30 kilometres deep.
Dozens of civilians are reported to have been killed in the Turkish military incursion in Syria and tens of thousands have fled their home.
US forces that had been acting as a buffer between Turkey and the Kurds pulled back from the border at the beginning of October.
