Italy's president Sergio Mattarella and premier Giuseppe Cointe sent good wishes to US President Donald Trump on Friday after the White House said he and his wife Melania tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
"I wish to send warmest best and friendly good wishes to you and your wife - in a personal capacity and on behalf of all Italians - for a speedy recovery," read a tweet from Mattarella.
"My best wishes to @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS Melania for a speedy recovery. Hope both of you will get better soon!" tweeted Conte.
The Trumps have mild COVID-19 symptoms, the White House said.
Trump's chief of staff said the president was "on the job" and "in good spirits", adding that he expected him to make a quick recovery.
