Envoy to Libya Giuseppe Buccino on Monday held talks with mayors, academics and local activists from the war-torn country's impoverished southwest Fezzan region as well as representatives of Italy's overseas aid agency, Bari's agronomic institute, association of local councils (Anci) and the Aracpacis NGO.

The meeting came after Italian and Libyan mayors and local civil servants met for the first time on Thursday "to share experiences of partnership with the voluntary sector and improving services to citizens," Anci tweeted last week.
