Italy's foreign minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi met group of opposition lawmakers from crisis-hit Venezuela, the foreign ministry said in a statement. Moavero also represented premier Giuseppe Conte at the talks, the statement noted.
The Venezuelan delegation included the National Assembly's foreign affairs committee head Francisco Jose Sucre Giffuni, former mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma, and Rodrigo Diamanti, opposition leader Juan Guaido's representative for European aid to Venezuela, the statement said.
The delegation of lawmakers also held talks with Italy's deputy premier and interior minister Matteo Salvini and had a meeting at the Vatican secretariat.
