Prosecutors on Monday asked for a 10-year prison sentence for a Sicilian priest who allegedly extorted sex from asylum-seekers, news website LiveSicilia reports.
In the fast-track trial, Sergio Librizzi is accused of extortion and sexual violence against asylum-seekers who had arrived in Sicily.
According to prosecutors, Librizzi extorted sex from the refugees in exchange for help with their cases at the asylum claims committee in the western port city of Trapani.
A former local director of Catholic Charity Caritas, Librizzi was arrested in June last year.
