Italy and its Western allies must keep all possible forms of dialogue with Russia open to de-escalate the current crisis over its massive military buildup around Ukraine, premier Mario Draghi said on Friday.
"We need to keep open all possible dialogue options, in whatever format," Draghi told reporters in Rome.
"Our ambition is to get (Russian president Vladimir) Putin and (Ukrainian president Volodymyr) Zelensky to sit down together at the same table," Draghi went on.
Draghi said he expects to travel to Moscow for talks with the Russian leader at date in the near future.
"The meeting was requested by Putin," Draghi stated.
Nato countries must show total unity in the face of the current threat to Ukraine and "take a firm stance in the event of possible attacks," Draghi underlined.
