Italy and other countries should keep working with the United Nations, which has the ability to help stabilise conflict zones from Libya to Syria, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Friday.
"We can and must continue to work with the UN and within its mechanisms that still today bear fruit - form Libya to Syria and Yemen- if defended and properly supported," Di Maio said.
He was addressing the 'Shared Security, Priorities for EU action' session of the Mediterranean Dialogues virtual forum.
