Italy's lower house of parliament's foreign affairs committee will on Tuesday question European special envoy for the Sahel and former deputy foreign minister Emanuela Del Re on the crisis in Afghanistan.
The hearing will cover "the geopolitical and humanitarian dimensions" of the crisis "also in respect of Italy's strategic interests in central Asia", said a parliament statement.
The hearing will take place at 3pm local time and will be live-streamed on the parliament's website.
Half of Afghanistan’s 38 million population facing imminent food shortages in the harsh winter months as a result of international sanctions against the aid-dependent country since the Taliban takeover in August.
