Lebanon's ambassador Mira Daher on Monday lauded Italy for its "solidarity" and praised the work of Italy's envoy Nicoletta Bombardiere's work in the blast-hit country.
"Italy's foreign ministry has been more than fantastic. Italians have been wonderful - it is as if Beirut was their destroyed city," Daher told Adnkronos International ahead of a visit by Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte to Beirut.
"Unlike other countries, Italy doesn't take sides and it is a leader in solidarity," Daher underlined.
Italy has continued to aid Lebanon since the devastating blast at Beirut's port on 4 August and its doctors also helped the crisis-hit country fight its COVID-19 outbreak, Daher said.
