War-torn Libya and the detention by its eastern authorities of 18 Italian fishermen on 1 September was the focus of phone talks Tuesday between Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister tweeted.
Besides the case of the skippers and crew of Italian fishing boats Antartide and Medinea, the two ministers ministers discussed the unrest in Bielorussia after last month's disputed presidential election, the tweet said.
Di Maio and Lavoro also agreed on "the need to establish the truth" in the case of poisoned Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, as well as Italy and Russia's bilateral ties, according to the tweet.
