A visit to Rome by Libya's premier Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh is "being planned" to coincide with a business forum to boost bilateral economic cooperation, Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Wednesday.
"A visit by Libya's prime minister Dbeibah to Rome is being planned during which we intend to bring together Italian companies at a business forum to create further opportunities for economic cooperation," Di Maio told MPs.
Italy is keen to further expand its business activities in its former colony, especially in the energy sector, where it already holds strategic investments through Eni - but also in Libya's infrastructure sector.
