Freed Italian aid worker Alberto Livoni is "well" and is "happy to be back in Italy after being held in Ethiopia for eight days, but is concerned at the fate of Ethiopian colleagues who are currently being detained there.
"I am happy to have returned to Italy. I am now well, despite challenging days and enormous worry," Livoni said in a statemetn.
He thanked the Italian embassy for its efforts on his behalf, saying the support allowed him to remain "hopeful" during his detention.
"My thoughts are now with my Ethiopian colleagues who are still being held," Livoni added.
The statement was issued by Volontariato internazionale per lo Sviluppo (VIS), and Italian NGO of which Livoni is the coordinator in Ethiopia.
