Police on Thursday arrested an Italian man for the alleged murder of his Colombian-born wife with a flick-knife near the northeastern city of Vicenza.
Mirko Righetto, 48, called police and confessed to stabbing to death 37-year-old Nidia Lucia Loza Rodriguez in the late-night attack, local daily Il Gazzettino reports.
Righetto is in police custody in the town of Camisano Vicentino, near Vicenza, where Rodriguez's blood-spattered body was found at the couple's villa.
The couple is believed to have a small daughter, who was not at home at the time of Rodriguez's murder, Il Gazzettino said, quoting neighbours.
The paper also cited a neighbour of the couple as saying Righetto was "a good person" and that he had "no idea" what triggered the murder.
Investigators believe jealousy may lie behind Rodriguez's slaying, Il Gazzettino said.
