Italy's president Sergio Mattarella met King Philippe of Belgium on Wednesday for talks at the Quirinale Palace. Mattarella's office said in a statement.
Italy's undersecretary of state at the foreign ministry, Benedetto Della Vedova, attended the talks, which were followed by lunch, said the statement.
During his visit, King Philippe also held talks in Rome with premier Mario Draghi at the prime minister's office at Palazzo Chigi.
In consultation with Italy's authorities, a longer state visit slated from 1-3 December was postponed due to Europe's new surge in COVID-19 cases, according to a statement from the Belgian Monarchy.
