GSD Healthcare Middle East president and Gruppo San Donato vice-president Kamel Ghribi and a medical delegation held talks Friday in Nairobi with Kenya's president Uhuru Kenyatta and health minister Mutahi Kagwe on medical cooperation with Italy and developing the African country's health services.
During the talks, Gruppo San Donato offered its know-how and the experience of its doctors and managers to help strengthen and make more efficient Kenya's main psychiatric facility and to set up several new hospitals for acute cases.
The three-day official visit represents a first step in the development of bilateral action in the healthcare field that is aims to strengthen the network of local hospitals in Kenya and guaranteeing sustainable, quality medical treatment for its population.
"The pandemic has made it more apparent than ever before that healthcare cooperation is crucial to the fate of populations," Ghribi said.
"The San Donato Group intends to contribute all of its energy and its talents," Ghribi added.
During the meeting, Ghribi presented Kenyatta with an invitation to attend the second European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East, which will be held in Rome in November during the concluding events of Italy's G20 presidency.
Francesco Galli, Gianvito Martino and Massimo Tivegna also took part in the GSD delegation that met Kenyatta and Kagwe.
