A cargo of drugs and crucial medical supplies from Italy arrived in Lebanon by air, the United Nations World Food Programme tweeted on Friday.
"A shipment of medicines, surgical kits and PPEs (personal protective equipment) arrives in Lebanon from UNHRD Brindisi," read the tweet, referring to the UN logistics hub in Brindisi, southern Italy.
"Thanks to the Government of Italy for its support to the World Health Organisation in ensuring that these life-saving supplies reach hospitals and victims of the recent Beirut blast."
At least 190 people died when 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely at Beirut's port for years exploded on 4 August. Some 300,000 people were left homeless by the blast.
