Italy seeks to take on the challenges facing the Mediterranean region through dialogue and "shared solutions" that can connect Europe, Asia and Africa, according to foreign minister Luigi Di Maio.
"Italy is at the centre of the Mediterranean. Our country is working for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions, thanks to initiatives liked the Med Dialogues Forum," Di Maio wrote Thursday on Facebook.
Ministers, heads of state and experts from all over the world are debating the trends, challenges and hot-button issues in the Mediterranean region at the Rome 2021 Mediterranean Dialogues Forum from Thursday to Saturday.
"At this event, we will keep building a positive agenda which does not view the Mediterranean as a crisis point but sees its extraordinary potential...as a space for dialogue and connection between Europe, Africa and Asia,"Di Maio went on.
Over 10,000 people have registered to take part in the online event, which is sponsored by the foreign ministry and ISPI (the Italian Institute for International Political Studies).
