Italy's envoy to Bosnia-Herzegovina has welcomed a UN court's dismissal on Tuesday of former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic's final appeal against his conviction for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
"I see the final judgement on Ratko Mladic as the closing of a circle. My thoughts are with all those whose lives have been shattered by the war, the direct victims as well as all those ruined by the violence," tweeted Minasi.
"As justice makes his course, it remains on us all & on all leaders in politics and society to look at facts & make sure that such horrors do not happen again, building a society that is just, accepts dialogue & prevents violence. All can take part in it, all should."
UN war crimes judges in the Hague upheld Mladic's 2017 conviction confirming his central role in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre and the 43-month siege of Sarajevo - Europe’s worst atrocities since World War Two.
