Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio, defence minister Lorenzo Guerini and interior minister Luciana Lamorgese held talks in Rome Tuesday on turmoil-wracked Libya, cabinet sources told Adnkronos.
Di Maio on Monday warned that time was running out to achieve a ceasefire between Libya's warring sides, urging foreign powers not to meddle and for the entire Europe Union to act to end the worsening conflict.
Observers have warned that a slide into an all-out civil war is looming in the oil-rich former Italian colony, which has had rival administrations in the east and west since 2014 backed by a myriad of armed groups.
