Foreign minister Luigi Di Maio has parised the "enormous solidarity" Italians are showing the tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees who have entered the country since Russia's assault on their homeland began seven weeks ago.
"Italians are showing enormous solidarity and big hearts. I am proud," Di Maio tweeted.
"We have been able to take in 90,000 people who have arrived from Ukraine, including 35,000 children and the rest who are mainly women," the tweet added.
