Italy's foreign minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi travelled to Brussels on Monday to attend the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
On the Council's agenda are potential EU member Moldova, EU-China relations and the situation in war-torn Yemen, according to the statement.
China's foreign minister Wang Yi was due to hold discussions with EU foreign ministers over lunch, ahead of an EU-China summit on 9 April, according to an agenda published on the European Council's website.
