A Moroccan with psychiatric problems got onto the runway at Pisa airport after he lay on a luggage conveyor belt and passed through a metal detector, La Repubblica daily reported on Tuesday.
The unnamed Moroccan was detained by airport security staff and returned to a psychiatric clinic in Pisa. Police are investigating the incident, La Repubblica said.
The stunt came after Italy said it had boosted security at airports and train stations in the wake of the 22 March terrorist attacks at Brussels international airport and a city metro station which killed 32 people and three suicide bombers.
