A female Syrian broadcast journalist was killed by a mortar shell in a suburb of Damascus on Tuesday as she left home to go to work, state news agency SANA reported.
Batoul Moukhles al-Warar died from shrapnel wounds and several other people were injured in the mortar attack on the suburb of Harasta, which also damaged buildings, SANA said, citing police.
Police said the mortar shell that killed al-Warar was fired from rebel positions in the Eastern Ghota suburb of Damascus, SANA reported.
Al-Warar worked for Syria's state-run religious satellite television station Nour al-Sham TV and for Damascus Radio, where she was a presenter.
Her father is Syrian TV presenter Moukhles al-Warar.
