A total 240 Italians boarded a special repatriation flight from the Kenya's coastal city of Mombasa on Thursday - the third such flight organised by Italy's embassy in the country, the foreign ministry tweeted.
The Italians were transported to Mombasa aboard nine buses and internal flights and are bound for Rome and Milan, according to the tweet.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year, Italian authorities have repatriated 84,000 citizens from 118 different countries in over 820 air, sea and land operations, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Several thousand Italians are still stranded abroad after countries halted international flights and closed their borders amid the coronavirus pandemic that has infected over five million people.
