Archbishop Ivan Jurkovic took up his post as the Holy See's permanent observer to the Geneva-based United Nations agencies and the World Trade Organization, Vatican Radio reported on Friday.
The 63-year-old Slovenian diplomat was appointed to his new post by Pope Francis in February. He had served as Vatican envoy to the Russian Federation since 2011, Vatican Radio said.
Jurkovic replaces Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, who reached the age of retirement.
