A total 1,060 Italian citizens were flown home on Thursday from abroad bringing to over 85,000 the total number of repatriations since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Today's special flights enabled Italians stranded in the UK, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Israel, India, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela.
An overnight flight from Colombia will bring back to Italy several families with children they had travelled to the country to adopt when international flights were halted and borders closed.
