Italian counter-terrorism investigators monitored more than 400,000 websites last year and disabled over 500 including social media accounts, police said on Tuesday.
Two people were arrested and eight reported to police for online activities that threatened state security, according to police.
A total 412,447 websites were monitored and 510 websites were blocked, while 13 Facebook and Twitter profiles were disabled, police said.
The websites were watched by investigators from Italy's postal police, whose brief includes domestic and international terrorism.
