A total of 92 Italian citizens who were stranded in Tunisia are being repatriated aboard a ferry headed from the Sicilian port city of Palermo, the foreign ministry tweeted on Monday.
"Ninety-two passengers stuck in Tunisia have set sail for Palermo aboard Grandi Navi Veloce's ship Atlas," read the tweet, referring to Italian shipping company GNV.
"The embassy thanks GNV, the foreign ministry and all state and regional authorities involved," the tweet added.
Italy's foreign ministry has been working to bring home thousands of Italians stranded abroad during the Covid-19 pandemic, as international flights were halted and countries closed their borders.
