Carabinieri police are probing a slew of death threats made against Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio on social media for his criticism of Russian president Vladimir Putin's military offensive in Ukraine and alleged war crimes there by Russian troops.
"We'll kill you" and "kill Di Maio", "you'll get a spanner lodged in your brain" and "send him to the gulag" were among the threats made to Di Maio on Telegram - now Russia's most popular messaging tool.
