Italy's prime minister Matteo Renzi will meet Iran's president Hassan Rouhani on Saturday at Rome's Capitoline Museums, he has announced.

"I will meet Iran's president Hassan Rouhani in the hear of Rome, at the Capitoline Museums," Renzi said on Tuesday, referring to the group of art and archeological museums in Piazza del Campidoglio, atop the Capitoline Hill.

Rome is Rouhani's first stop on a three-day trip that will also include meetings at the Vatican and an address to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

Rouhani and a high-level Iranian delegation will meet Renzi, Italy's president Sergio Mattarella and other top Italian officials as well as investors and large business owners in the country.

Rouhani will then head to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis and his second-in-command, secretary of state Pietro Parolin.

Rouhani will also address the UNESCO Leaders’ Forum as special guest at the organization’s headquarters in Paris on Sunday and plans to meet his French counterpart Francois Hollande in Paris on Monday, the Iranian presidential office said.
