Russia's "disturbing" and "unacceptable" shelling of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear compound on Friday was the focus of a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated.
"Here at NATO we discussed the unacceptable attack by the Russian military on the biggest nuclear power station in Europe, which is located in Ukraine," Di Maio told reporters in Brussels.
"It is a disturbing event which we strongly condemn," Di Maio added.
"And what is even more disturbing is that Putin is not only exposing Ukraine and other European nations but his own people as well. Because damaged to that plant would have devastating effects that would impact Russian citizens as well."
