Italy's interior minister Matteo Salvini on Wednesday backed Serbia's European Union membership bid during talks in Rome with the Balkan country's president Aleksandar Vucic, who vowed to fight migration to the 28-member bloc by stepping up border controls.
Salvini and Vucic's discussions covered security, cooperation and international relations.
Serbia began membership talks with the EU in 2014.
