Italy's deputy foreign minister Marina held talks with Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Rahi in Bkerki on Tuesday at the end of a two-day visit to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, the embassy tweeted.
"At the conclusion of her visit to Beirut, Deputy Minister Marina Sereni met the Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Rahi in Bkerki. Exchange of views on political and socio-economic challenges in Lebanon and on perspectives for change, including through 2022 elections," read the tweet.
Marina Sereni on Monday urged Lebanon's squabbling politicians to form a new executive that can launch reforms to unlock foreign cash amid the country's economic collapse. The country has had a caretaker government since last August.
