At least six Syrian perished and at least three others were missing after a migrant boat overturned off the southeast Turkish coast in rough seas, according to a local report.
The boat, carrying 13 Syrian migrants bound for Greek islands, reportedly capsized due to the bad weather conditions, Turkey's Dogan news agency said.
Four migrants were rescued from the sea. Coast guard units recovered six bodies were searching the area for the three missing migrants, Dogan reported.
Syrians make up around one quarter of the more than 340,200 migrants and asylum seekers who have reached arrived in Europe by sea so far this year.
More than 4,600 migrants perished trying to reach Europe across the Mediterranean from January through 16 November, making it the deadliest year on record.
