A total of 28 Islamic State fighters were killed in operations late on Tuesday targeting positions belonging to the jihadist group in northern Syria, according to military sources cited by Turkish media.
At least 14 IS militants died when Turkish military hit IS positions spotted by reconnaissance and surveillance vehicles in Jariz, Yahmul and Kafrah north of Aleppo with shells and rockets, the sources were quoted as saying.
Another 14 IS fighters were killed in five air strikes by coalition warplanes against targets spotted by Turkish Armed Forces in the Kafrah, Jariz, Tilalayn and Dabiq areas of Aleppo province, according to the sources .
Eleven fortified defence positions, one tactical vehicle and a two-storey building used by IS militants as a headquarters were also destroyed.
There was no immediate information about casualties inside the building, Turkish media reported.
The Turkish military has recently stepped up cross-border operations against IS in northern Syria along with the US-led coalition.
