Turkish police arrested 21 suspected members of the Islamic State militant group on Friday during raids in four provinces, the Andalou news agency reported.
Three of the suspects arrested in Friday's operation were foreigners who were preparing to travel to Syria, Andalou said, citing Turkish police.
The raids took place in the western provinces of Istanbul and Izmir and the southern provinces of Mersin and Sanliurfa, Andalou reported.
In Istanbul, one of the operations was carried out amid tight security in the city’s working-class Gaziosmanpasa district, Andalou said.
Police seized two automatic rifles, large quantities of ammunition, documents and military uniforms during the raids, according to Andalou.
A total of 30 arrest-warrants were issued for suspects accused of recruiting IS fighters from Europe, Turkey's Dogan news agency reported.
Hundreds of people from European countries have reportedly gone to Syria and Iraq to join IS, which declared a so-called ‘Caliphate’ in June last year straddling swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.
