Two people died and one was injured on Tuesday when their car collided with a truck on a highway near the northern Italian city of Piacenza.
A woman and a young girl died when the car suddenly veered to the right and crashed into a truck parked in a lay-by on the A1/A21 highway near Piacenza.
The car's driver was taken by ambulance to hospital in Piacenza and was expected to survive.
The woman and girl passengers were cut from the wreckage by a rescue team and paramedics declared them dead at the scene.
The identities of the people inside the car were not immediately known.
